The Lower Lode Bridge.
From the New Times. 1818.
| A direct line of road is projected from Cheltenham to Brecon, which will open up a
communication between that part of the coast, from Hereford and South Wales.
The intended bridge at the Lower Lode, near Tewkesbury, will greatly facilitate this communication, and also improve the direct road from Brecon to London, as the
distance from Brecon to Cheltenham will then be nearly seven miles less than at present, and
the roads pass through the finest parts of the country. |
From the Aegis. 1818.
| A handsome new bridge is about to be erected over the Severn from Tewkesbury to Forthampton , near the ferry. This will afford a safe passage over the river at all times, instead of the present sometimes dangerous mode of passing by a ferry boat; and the bridge will open a direct communication not only from London to several places in Gloucestershire and Worcester, but also into Herefordshire and a considerable part of South Wales. |
