Two earlier telephone directories of the area have only one entry each for Tewkesbury. That entry had the number 1 and was at 14 High Street and the name was Jelleyman, a long term occupier who was listed in earlier trade directoriea as a rope and twine manufacturer. This may have been the equivalent of the local telephone box. It is listed below as the National Telephone Company Limited. This was the operating company. Nationwide there may have been more than one network operator; I will clarify this later.
