Last Will and Testament of Anne Butler of Tewkesbury. Widow.

In the name of God Amen: the twenty seventh day of October in the fortieth year of the reign of our sovereign Lady Elizabeth, by the grace of God, Queen of England, France and Ireland, defender of the faith etc. I, Anne Butler of Tewkesbury in the county of Gloucester, widow, but (thanks be given to almighty god) of perfect mind and memory, do make my testament containing therein my last will in manner and form following. First, I give and bequeath my soul to Almighty God, my maker and creator, secondly to Jesus Christ, his son, my Saviour and Redeemer and thirdly to God the Holy Ghost, God coequal with the Father and the Son, three distinct persons but one in substance, through whom and by whom I hope and believe verily to be saved. And my body to be buried in the church of Tewkesbury aforesaid. Item I give and bequeath to Richard Butler, my son, the half part of one storehouse, set, lying and being in Tewkesbury aforesaid, so that he, the said Richard Butler, shall not alien or sell the same without the consent of my son, John Butler. Item, I give and bequeath unto my son Richard, one featherbed and bolster in the parlour and my second coverlet, half a dozen of silver spoons, my little wassard and two pair of hempen sheets. All the residue of my goods, moveable and unmoveable, not given and bequeathed, my debts and funerals discharged, I give and bequeath to John Butler, my son, whom I make and ordain my full and whole executor of this my last will and testament. In wittness whereof I, the said Anne Butler have hereunto set my hand and seal, the day and year abovesaid.
