Last Will and Testament of Ann Merry of Tewkesbury. Spinster.

This is the Last Will and Testament,of me, Ann Merry of Tewkesbury in the county of Gloucester, spinster. First I direct that all my just debts, funeral and testamentary expenses to be fully paid by my executors hereinafter named. And I do hereby give and bequeath unto my nephew, John Simpkin (the son of my late sister Elizabeth Simpkin) the sum of five pounds if he shall be living at the time of my decease. And I also bequeath to Maria Green the sum of five pounds if she shall be living with me at the time of my decease. And I also bequeath to my nephew, Edwin Carless, the son of my late sister Mary Carless, the following articles (that is to say) a bureau, two large silver spoons and six silver tea spoons and silver sugar tongs. And I also bequeath to my nephew, Henry Carless, one large silver spoon and three silver tea spoons. And I give my wearing apparel and all my linen to Susanna, the wife of the said Edwin Carless. And I hereby give, bequeath and devise unto the said Edwin Carless, his heirs and assigns for ever, All and singular the messuage or tenement and premises, situate in the Church Street, Tewkesbury, and all and every the fixtures and additions therein or thereto with the rights, easements, advantages and appurtenances belonging to the same. To hold the same to the said Edwin Carless, his heirs and assigns for ever for his and their own absolute use and benefit. And I do hereby give, devise and bequeath all the rest, residue and remainder of my real and personal estates whatsoever unto the said Edwin Carless and Henry Carless and their respective heirs, executors, administrators and assigns to be equally divided between them as tenants in common and not as joint tenants. And hereby revoking all former and other testamentary dispositions heretofore by me made I do hereby appoint Mr. Charles Banaster of Tewkesbury aforesaid, gentleman, and Mr. John Purser Kimberly of the city of Gloucester, merchant, executors of this my will. As witness my hand this twenty sixth day of August in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty eight. Ann Merry.
