Last Will and Testament of Edmund Fluck of Tewkesbury.

In the name God amen, the sixth day of December Anno Dno 1576, in the nineteenth year of the reign of our Sovereign Lady Ellizabeth, by the grace of God Queen of England, France and Ireland, Defender of the Faith etc. I, Edmond Flucke of Tewkesbury in the county of Gloucester and Diocese of the same, being sick in body but in good and perfect memory (thanks be to God) do make, ordain and constitute this, my present testament containing herein my last will, in maner and form following, that is to say. Item: FIirst I give and bequeath my soul to Almighty God, my maker, and to his son Jesus Christ, by whose death and passion, and by faith in his blood, I am fully assured to have pardon of my sins: And touching my body, I commend it to the earth to be buried in the churchyard of Tewkesbury abovesaid: Item I gve and bequeath Anne Fluck, my daughter, a bed, a bolster, a pair of sheets, a coverlet, a pair of blankets, a brass pot, a cupboard, all whch said parcels to be the best the which I had before the day and time I married wth Ellizabeth, now my wife, together and moreover I give and bequeath to the said Anne, my said daughter, my third best candlestick, three great chargers, and a hempen broad cloth: and further my will and intent is that if it shall or do happen the said Ellizabeth, my wife, to make refusal and deny to keep and maintain the said Anne Flucke, my said daughter, in, and wth all manner of necessaries as to such articles requisite, from the day of my decease, until and for and during the whole and full time as she, the said Anne Flucke shal be able to go or to be placed in service, that then presently upon the day of the same denial or refusal of Anie such be made, then she, the said Ellizabeth, to pay unto the said Anne Flucke, forty shillings of good and lawful money of England: Item, I give and bequeath to Edmond Flucke, my son, my best brass pan, my second best candletick, my best broach, my best caualdron, a pair of flaxen sheets, a pair of hempen sheets: Item I give and bequeath to Richard Flucke, my son, my third best brass pot: Item, I give and bequeath to Harrye Flucke, my son, my second best brass pan: Item, I give and bequeth to John Flucke, my son, two chargers of pewter and a pair of hempen sheets, all which and singular the said portions before to the said my Children bequeathed, my will and intent is they, and every of them to have the same to them delivered presently after my decease and the same to be used in their behalf as shall be well thought of by the rule and oversight of those my overseers herein named. And all other my goods and cattel and chattels as well, moeveable as unmoeveable, the legacies and bequest before specified being well and truly contented, my debts paid and funeral discharged, I wholly give to Ellizabeth Flucke, my said wife, the which I make my sole execuctrix: and I will and desire my wellbeloved friends William Hennes and Richard Watters to be my supervisors and overseers of this my present testament and last will. Item: and moreover I give to the said Anne, a new coffer. In witness whereof I have hereunto put my hand in the presence and witness of Roger Timbrell, Richard Waters, Anne Henns and Thomas Freebanke the many other. Proved 1577. |
