Last Will and Testament of Edward Hillie of Tewkesbury. Baker.

In the name of God amen, the twentieth day of June 1644 I, Edward Hillie of Tewkesbury in the county of Gloucester, baker, do make and ordain this, my last will and testament, in manner and form following. First, I give and bequeath my soul into the hands of Almighty God, my maker and redeemer, and my body to be buried in the parish church of Tewkesbury. Item, I give and bequeath to my son Edward Hillie all the standards belonging to my dwelling house, situate, lying and being in the Church Street and hereafter mentioned, two standing beds, one truckle bed and one joined press, two table boards, one side cupboard, one cistern with all the benches and wainscote belonging to the said messuage and tenement in Tewkesbury aforesaid. Also I give unto the said Edward Hillie, my son, one berrying trough, the materials of one oven, one furnace and boulting mill. Also I give to Edward Hillie, my eldest son, the sum of five pounds to be paid him at the age of one and twenty years by my executrix hereinafter named. Also I give and bequeath to the infant which is now in my wife's womb, the sum of twenty pounds, and my will is if the said child, whether it be a boy or girl shall happen to die, the said portion of twenty pounds shall be paid to my eldest son, Edward, aforesaid at the age of one and twenty years. If the said child shall live then my will is that my executrix shall pay it twenty pounds at the age of one and twenty years. And my will is that my executrix shall breed up my children til they come to the age of one and twenty years. All the rest of my goods, cattels and chattels yet unbequeathed I give to my wellbeloved wife, Catherine Hillie, whom I make and asppoint my whole and sole executrix of this my last will and testament. And I do appoint for overseers of this my last will, my wellbeloved friends Benjamin Ascrigg of Twyning and Richard Mince of Tewkesbury in the county of Gloucester, and for their pains taken concerning the same I give them five shillings apiece. In witness thereunto I have put my hand and seal given the day and year first above written.
