In the name of God Amen, the twelth day of November in the year of our Lord God 1597, I George Whitlech of Tewkesbury in the county of Gloucester, tanner, being sick in body but yet of perfect memory (god be praised) do make this my last will and testament in manner and form as followeth. First, I bequeath my soul into the hands of God and my body to be buried. Item I give
to William, my son eight pounds of current English money, to be paid to
him within one year next after my decease, my will is also that
he shall use that stock he hath already, freely as he hath done with the increase thereof during the term of that whole year and afterward, at the discretion of my executrix upon his behaviour. Item, I give to John my son, six pounds thirteen shillings and eight penceof current English money, to be paid to him within three years next after my decease. Item, I give to Samaell, my son, ten pounds of current
English money, to be paid to him within five years next after my decease, also I give him one joined bedstead in the upper chamber with a flockxbed, one pair of sheets, and the rest of the furniture thereunto belonging, to be delivered within the five years above mentioned. Item, I give to George, my son, ten poundsof current English money to be paid to him within eight years next after my decease, my will is also that he may use to his own profit, freely as he hath done, that little money he hath already, with the increase thereof in my tan house during the said term of eight years. Item I give to Thomas, my son, twelve pounds of current English money, to be paid to him within eight years next after my decease. Item I give to Sible, my daughter, thirteen pounds six shillings and eight pence of current English money to be paid to her, at or upon her first marriage day. I give her also my second best featherbed to be delivered to her at the time next above named, and if in case any of these my children above named die before they receive their portion, according to the time limited, then I say my will is that any one of them so dying his portion to be distributed to the rest living and surviving, as of right to them belonging by equal parts. Item, I make, ordain constitute appoint and declare Sible my wife to be my sole executrix, also my will is that my executrix shall have the tuition and safe keepinge of these legacies here given, until the time herein specified to be paid, and also that my executrix shall within on month after my decease
enter into sufficient bond to my trusty friends, Mr William Johnson and John Porter, whom I make my overseers, for the payment of all these leagacies, as they shall be due to be paid to the children. In wittnes whereof to these presents I have set to my hand, dated as above,
