This is the Last Will and Testament of Hester Mann of Tewkesbury in the county of Gloucester, widow, for the disposition of the estate wherewith I am blessed and have power to dispose of. First I will and desire that a sermon be preached at my funeral and that the preacher of it have one guinea, And I also give one guinea a year for ever for a sermon to be preached on my funeral day. It is also my will and desire that a monument of about forty pounds value be set up and erected near the organ in Tewkesbury Church in memory of my first husband Mr. Dobbins and his son Henry as also of my last husband as aforesaid Mr. William Mann, my mother, my self and son. John. I give to Mrs. Abigail Charlton the use of my silver tankard for her life and after her decease I give the same to her daughter Sarah; but if she dies in the life time of her mother I give it to her son Shadrack. I also give the said Abigail Charlton the interest and produce of one hundred pounds for her life and after her decease I give the said one hundred pounds to the issue of my daughter Fitz-Edwards and for want of such issue I give the same to Sarah the daughter of the said Abigail Charlton. But if she dies in the life time of her mother, I give the said one hundred pounds to her son Shadrack, and if he dies in the life time of his mother then I give the same to my executors to and for such charitable uses as are herein after mentioned. I give to Ann the wife of George Farren forty shillings a year for her life to be paid her quarterly. I give to Sarah Spring if she continues to be my servant to the time of my death, the interest and produce of one hundred pounds for her life and after her decease I give the said one hundred pounds to and amongst the children of my said daughter Fitz-Edwards and in default of such issue then I give the same to my executors for the uses of this my will. I give to the said Sarah Spring for her life the use of my mourning ring I had at my mother's death and after to such child of hers or relation as she thinks proper. I give to Elizabeth Spring the use and interst of twenty pounds for her life and in case she survives her father and mother I give her the said twenty pounds, but if she dies in their life times I give the said twenty pounds to my executors for the charitable uses of this my will. I give to Mrs. Mary Sutton, widow, forty shillings a year for her life to be paid her quarterly. I give to Mrs. Keeble my silver goblet and also the mourning ring I had at my son John's death. I give to my kinsman Mr. Richard Jackson my son John's picture. I give and bequeath to Mr. Thomas Mann, Mr. Nicholas Mann, Mrs. Mary Mann and the said Mr. Richard Jackson each a diamond ring of five guineas value. I give to my late servant Ann Jeynes a ring of a guinea value. I give to my daughter Fitz-Edwards ten pounds to buy her mourning. I also give her the use of all my plate for her life and after her decease I give the same to her children, and for want of such issue I give the same to my executors to and for the charitable uses of this my will. I give to the said Mrs. Charlton, Mrs. Sutton and Sarah Spring, all my cloaks and wearing apparel to be equally divided between them. I give and bequeath to my said daughter Fitz-Edwards, to Mrs. Sarah Smithsend of Walton Cardiff, widow, to the reverend Mr. Perry Jones and to Mr. Henry -------- , both of Tewkesbury, each a diamond ring of five guineas value with my name and my late husband Mr. William Manns inscribed on each ring. All the residue of my money, goods, effects and peesonal estate, if any, shall remian after my debts, legacies and funeral expenses are paid, I give and bequeath unto my executors herein after named in trust that they or the survivor of them or the executors or administrators of such survivors do and shall lay out the same or sufficient part thereof in the purchase of lands to be settled and conveyed to and upon the Bailffs and Minister of Tewkesbury aforesaid on trust that they and the survivors or survivor of them and the Bailiffs and Minister for the time being do and shall by and out of the rents, issues and profits of such lands so to be purchased pay the said one guinea yearly for ever to the Minister who shall annually preach a sermon on my funeral day and also do and shall by and with the residue of the rents and profits of the said premises buy and procure many tons of coas yearly as the same will extend to pay for and give and distribute the same on St. Thomas Day yearly for ever to such distressed widows or old maids in Tewkesbury aforesaid as they in their discretion shall think proper not exceeding half a ton to each person. I desire to be interred in the parish Church of Tewkesbury aforesaid in a decent manner at the discretion of my executors and define that all my acquaintance in Tewkesbury may be invited to my funeral. I give to my daughter Fitz-Edwards the use of all my goods in the house wherein I live for so many years as she shall think proper to live and reside in it for the space of three months yearly but if she lets the said house to a tenant and does not live in it yearly for the time aforesaid then I give the said goods to her.issue, but if she shall have no issue I give the said goods to my executors to be sold for the charitable uses of my will. I constitute and appoint the said ------- Jones and Henry Whitaker executors of this my will and give to each of them five guineas for their trouble to be taken in the execution and performance of the trusts in them reposed nd desire they may reimburse themselves all such charges and expenses which they or either of them shall be at or put to in and about the same. I declare this to be Last Will and Testament revoking all former ones .In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the tenth day of March in the year of our Lord one thousand and seven hundred and forty six.
