Last Will and Testament of John Hale of Tewkesbury. Trowman.

In the name of God Amen I, John Hale of Tewkesbury in the county of Gloucester, trowman, being sick in body but perfect in memory, do make this my last will and testament. First, I bequeath my soul to Almighty God and my body to be buried in the churchyard. Item, then I give and bequeath unto my eldest son, Thomas Hale, my lesser trow called by the name of the George with all the tackling that is to her belonging. Item I geve and bequeath unto my second son, John Hale, my hatched trow called by the name the Gabrell with all the tackling unto her belonging. Item, I give and bequeath unto my daughter, Ellynor, the sum of six pounds thirteen shillings fourrpence, to be paid at her day of marriage or at the age of twenty one years, which of the two shall first happen to be. Item, I give and bequeath to my daughter Elisabeth the lease of my house in the Key Lane in Tewkesbury which I hold of Edmund Winchester by the yearly rent of five shillings, with all the profits and comodities thereunto belonging. Item, I give and bequeath to my daughter, Anne, the lease of my houses in the same Key Lane which I hold also of Edmund Winchester by the rent of two shillings four pence the year, with all the profits and commodities thereunto belonging. Item, I give and bequeath unto my daughter, Margarett, my lease of my house in the same Key Lane which I hold also of the same Edmond Winchester by the yearly rent of two shillings and fourpence and is now in the occupation of Edward Wyllshare, with all the profits and commodities thereunto belonging. Item, I give and bequeath to my son, Thomas, one sable which I bought of the goodwife Elanor. Item, I give and bequeath unto my son John, a new ------- which I now occupy. Item, I give all new line unto my two sons to be equally divided. Item, I give and bequeath the lease of my now house in the Key Lane to my two sons to be equally used, with all the profit and commodity thereunto belonging. Item, I give my apparel unto my two sons to be equally divided, only accepting my gown which I give unto my wife. Item, I give my purchased line to my two sons to be used indiferrently betwixt them. Item, whereas I
am to receive of John Sparcks of Newtown, twenty three tons of blocks which he oweth me, I give and bequeath the same blocks to my wife and my two sons, their to bringe it to Tewkesbury at their charge, and then they to have the one half and my wfe the other half. Item, I make my wife my full and whole executrix of this my last will and testament. In witness whereof I have put my hand and seal the twenty eighth day of May in the thirty ninth year of the reign of our sovereign Lady Elizabeth, by the grace of god of England, France and Ireland defender of the faith etc. I make my brother, Thomas Hale, and William Castle the overseers of this my last will and testament.
