Last Will and Testament of John Hopcott of Tewkesbury.

In the name of God amen, the eleventh day of February in the year of our Lord God 1581 I, John Hopcott of Tewkesbury, single man lying in my ---- and lying at the mercy of God and being sick in body but being whole and perfect in memory. God be praised, do make this my last will and testament in manner and form following. First, I do bequeath my soul into the hands of Almighty God and my body to be buried in the church yard of Tewkesbury, at the discretion of my friends. And further, I do confess unto Mister Nycholas Clevely and other of my friends, that my brother William Hopcott of Synssame hath of mine that was given me by my father in his will and testament, in money, twenty marks: and of this said sum I give unto my said sister, Alys, the wife of Henry Rychards, three pounds, six shillings and eight pence of lawful money. And also unto my sister Sybell, the wife of John Jeanes of Sothwycke other three pounds six shillings and eight pence, and also I give unto my sister Agnes, the wife of Rychard Holder, other three pounds six shillings and eight pence, and also I give unto the wife of William Toonell of Elmley other three pounds six shillings and eight pence. Further I do give unto my brother Henry Ricardes, my best shirt and my best jerkin and my best breeches. Item, I give unto my brother John Denys, my honing trusse and a shute These being witness unto this said will and bequests.
