Last Will and Testament of John Mayde of Tewkesbury. Mercer.

In the name of God amen, I, John Mayde of Tewkesbury in the county of Gloucester, mercer, being sick and weak, do make this perfect writing my last will and testament. Imprimis, I give and bequeath to Ann Mayde, my sister, the sum of fifteen pounds of good and lawful money of England to be paid at the end of two years next following after my decease. Item, I give and bequeath unto Sarah Mayde, my sister, the sum of twenty pounds of like lawful money with the joined bedstead, a round table board, one brass --- poot, one black cloak, one gridiron and frying pan, a broch and a silver spoon, to be passed them at twenty years. I give and bequeath unto James Mayde, my brother, the sum of twelve pounds of like current money of England with my bible, to be paid at the age of twenty one years. More, if either of those three above written shall decease before the receiving of the said money, then the said money to be equally divided to the survivor or survivors. Also I give and bequeath unto Joseph Mayde, my brother, my best fur cloak and best fur shute, to be delivered presently after my decease. Also I give and bequeath unto Thomas Mayde, my father, a cloak and five yards of woollen cloth. Also I give and bequeath unto Mr. John Geary the sum of twenty shillings to preach my funeral sermon, to be paid presently following. Also I give unto the poor of this town of Tewkesbury the sum of twenty shillings to be disposed of by Mr. John Geary, for him to give to such are most in want. Also I give unto Thomas Basker my old clothes, a doublet, jerkin, hose, an old pair of stockings and a pair of shoes. Also I give five pounds for my funeral expenses to bring me to earth. And if it do appear that my stock debts being paid shall not amount to so much, then out of Ann, Sarah, and James money to be taken out proportionately according to the several sums given them. Also I do make my cousin William Parry of Apley, my whole executor. And I also join with him William Terret of Forthampton to oversee the disposing of these sums of money.
