This is the Last Will and Testament of me, Merrett Hartelbury of Tewkesbury in the county of Gloucester, grocer, for the disposal of that estate in the world which God hath been pleased to bless me with. First, I order and direct that all my debts and funeral expenses shall be fully paid and satisfied. And I give to my dear wife during her life the free use and enjoyment of the furniture and household goods belonging to the forestreet parlour and chamber over it of my dwelling house. Also I give to my daughter Esther (having already provided for my daughter Catherine upon her marriage) the sum of five hundred pounds to be paid to her on her attaining the age of twenty one years or the day of her marriage which shall first happen, provided she shall marry with the approbation and consent of my said wife, otherwise I give the said money to my said wife, placed out at interest in her own or the name of the trustee, and the principal money and interest paid, applied and disposed of for the use and benefit of my said daughter and her children in case she shall have any child, in such way and manner as to my said wife shall seem moot. And I direct that until my said daughter shall attain the said age of twenty one years or shall be married, lawful interest for the said sum of five hundred pounds, commencing from the day of my death, shall be paid by my executor and applied for her maintenance and benefit and all my ready money, money at int6erest and all the rest and residue of my goods, chattels and personal estate of what kind or sort soever not hereinbefore disposed of and remaining after payment of my debts, funeral expenses and legacies I give to my son. And I appoint my said wife Guardian of the person and estate of my said daughter during her minority, and hereby revoking all former wills and testamentary dispositions by me at any time made. I constitute and appoint my said son sole executor of this my last will and testamnet. in witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the fourth day of September in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and eighty two.
