Last Will and Testament of Robert Jeynes of Tewkesbury. Husbandman.

In the name of God Amen, the seventeenth day of November 1599. Robert Jeynes of Southwick in the parish of Tewkesbury in the county of Gloucester, husbandman, being sick in body but in perfect remembrance (laud and praise be given to god therefore) do make this my last will and testament in manner and form following. First, I give and bequeath my soul into the hands of Jesus Christ my Saviour and Redemer and my body to be buried within the parish church or churchyard of Tewkesbury aforesaid. Item, I give toward the reparations of the church of Tewkesbury two shillings. Item, I give unto Anne Nicholson one heifer which was of my own breed. Item, I give unto the said Anne Nicholson two ewes and one bed with all that belongeth unto it. Item, I give unto my son in law, Edward Haynes his children, three sheep to be divided equally amongst them. Item, I give unto Margery Mowlde,
my servant, one sheep. Item, I give unto my son, John, all my tack and all my team, paying unto Jane my wife the sum of five pounds within four years after my decease, five and twenty shillings a year by equal portions until the said sum of five pounds be fully paid. Item, give one tenement now in the occupation of my son, John, and three acres of pasture in the little hill unto Richard Roberts, my son in law, and to his heirs of his body lawfully begotten for ever, and for want of heirs of the said Richard Roberts of his body lawfully begotten, to remain unto my son John and to his heirs for ever, provided that my said son John and his wife enioy the said tenement so long as my wife doth live and one year after. Also I will that my said son John shall quietly remove and take away the barn which is now at the dwelling house of my said son John, and sell the same at his pleasure. Item, give unto my son John one great broch and a ------ Item, my will is that my wife shall leave unto my son John all windows and doors, -----, staples and locks and one malt mill and all ranges and planks. Item, I give more unto Anne Nicolson three chargers and one cupboard to be delivered after the decease of her grandmother. The rest of all my goods, moveable and unmoveable, not before bequeathed, I give unto Jane, my wife, whom I make my whole executrix (my funeral being discharged) Lastly, I nominate and appoint my welbeloved in Christ, John Bradford, Thomas Hale, William Knight my overseers, to see this my last will fulfilled.
