Transcriptions of the wills of some Tewkesbury residents from 1500 onwards.

These transcriptions are as accurate as I could achieve in a limited time. The basic intent of the wills is clear and only a few words were unreadable due to the caligraphy, unfortunately some of these difficult to read words are personal names. Modern spellings have been substituted in most places but no hard and fast rules have been followed; grammar has been more or less untouched. The texts of the probate of the wills has been excluded as it does not usually add anything to the content, and is in some of the earlier wills written in Latin even when the main body of the will is in English. Some of the wills are useful giving family relationships between those mentioned in them as legatees. They are also of some limited help in locating premises.
